On Saturday, October 7, 2023, our transit family will come together to support our colleague and friend, Lauren Cochran Scoville
Lauren's career has been centered on transit innovation at public agencies, strategic research firms, and technology manufacturing companies. At Foothill Transit, for example, Lauren co-led the implementation of 100% battery-electric heavy-duty city buses, the first commercial deployment of modern, purpose-built electric transit buses in North America.
At the Texas Transportation Institute, she partnered with the Texas DOT to launch the first automated and connected vehicle proving ground transportation for public transit. She's managed bus operations in Houston, Texas, one of the largest and most complex urban regions in North America, and today she helps transit agencies throughout North America make the transition to zero-emission vehicle technology.
Lauren was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022. Fighting the disease is a challenge she's accepted with incredible courage and stamina. Today, Lauren is undergoing treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, a process that includes a combination of chemotherapy, surgery, and potentially radiation.
Despite the physical and financial impacts of her treatment, Lauren's incredible personality and positive outlook shines through. She remains committed to advancing public transit innovation and ZEB technology, all while remaining a source of inspiration and positive energy those in her life.

We are here for Lauren as she courageously faces down her cancer diagnosis. Proceeds from the 2023 Rays The Mark Annual Golf Fundraiser will help support Lauren and her family during her treatment and recovery.
