Our History

In the early 2000’s, Ray Melleady and Mark Aesch had the opportunity of leading two public agencies as newly minted chief executive officers (CEO). Rather than simply serving time in the chair, Ray and Mark shared a passion to create cultures of excellence.
A bond of friendship was forged from their personal commitment to continuous learning and growth. For over twenty years, their shared journey has introduced them to hundreds of people that have inspired them with their commitment to continuous improvement.

Raymond Melleady

CO-FOUNDER, THE RAYS THE MARK FOUNDATION
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, USSC GROUP

Raymond Melleady joined USSC Group in October 2012 as the as the Vice President for Sales. His primary duties include the oversite of Sales, Customer Service and corporate development initiatives for Public Transit in North America. With more than 22 years of experience in public transportation ranging from front line operations to executive management, he is well versed in the fiscal and operational challenges facing the transit industry. Despite these challenges, he holds a strong vision for future of transit in North America and a firm belief that progress will follow a supportive and progressive national policy framework. Prior to joining The USSC Group, he served as Vice President at Neopart charged with the development and sales of supply chain management solutions for the transit industry.

He has served as Executive Director for the Capital District Transportation Authority in Albany, NY where his primary responsibilities included oversight of the regional authority encompassing transit services for the four county region in and around the State Capital. While at CDTA, he served as a lobbyist in New York State and as the President and Board Chair for the New York Public Transportation Association. He also served as Vice Chair for the Capital District Transportation Committee which is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Albany Region.

Prior to coming to CDTA, he was employed at SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) from 1987 to 1994, where he was promoted from entry-level positions to 1st class technician and technical trainer. He worked at New Jersey Transit from 1995 to 1997 as an Assistant to the Director of Maintenance and returned to SEPTA in 1998 as Director of Maintenance.

Mark Aesch is a thought leader who passionately believes that public sector agencies can operate as efficiently and as focused on meeting customer needs as private sector businesses. As CEO and founder of TransPro, Mark leads the team in guiding organizations to new levels of performance excellence with the 7 Steps to Success performance management model. Mark has extensive experience in facilitating meetings and retreats with Boards, management, staff, and community members. He also supports organizations in the development of strategic plans, performance measurement systems, incentive compensation programs, and programs to improve service.
As Senior Advisor and certified executive leadership coach at Boston Consulting Group, Mark has advised transportation executives around the world. His leadership has driven millions of dollars in cost savings, aligned leadership teams, and dramatically improved performance.
Mark is a dynamic public speaker with representation from Washington Speaker’s Bureau and Leading Authorities. He is also the best-selling author of the business book Driving Excellence, published by Hyperion in 10 countries, which details the concept of managing a public sector agency with a private-sector mindset at the regional transit system in Rochester, New York. His new book, Saving America: 7 Proven Steps to Make Government Deliver Great Results, expands on the principles and strategies that make organizations successful.
Mark holds bachelor’s degrees in communications and history from the College at Brockport. Mark lives in Tampa, Florida with his partner Jacqueline. Together, Mark and Jacqueline raise two teenage sons Jonah and Jakob. Mark shares his commitment of continuous learning and growth with his family through world travel and impactful experiences.
